HOPE Floating Center Lock MTB disc brake

The Hope Floating brake rotor is built in two parts: a 410 stainless steel track riveted to a CNC-machined aluminium carrier. As the track heats up and expands, it moves a single degree on its rivets instead of forcing the carrier. The rotor stays true, the lever keeps the same bite from top to bottom, and the pads wear evenly.

Stays true, even hot: the track works freely on its carrier instead of deforming as it heats up. Braking keeps the same bite from the first corner of a descent to the last.

Fitted with your cassette tool: Center Lock, a single toothed lockring. Swap the rotor with the same tool you already use on your cassette.

Light where it counts: the machined carrier replaces the steel thickness of a one-piece rotor. 99 g in 140 mm, 123 g in 160, 156 g in 180. Less rotating mass at the wheel, so the bike picks up speed more willingly.

Seven carrier colours: black, blue, purple, silver, orange, red or smoke. Match the rotor to your frame or your calipers.

Compatibility

Center Lock only: the rotor fits a Center Lock hub and tightens with the toothed lockring. 140, 160 and 180 mm for XC, trail and gravel; 203 and 220 mm for enduro, downhill and e-MTBs. The bigger the rotor, the harder it brakes, provided you ride fast enough to get it up to temperature: an oversized rotor on a gentle ride stays cold and brakes less.

One thing to check before ordering: the rivet heads sit 1 mm above the track, taking the overall thickness to 2.8 mm at the rivets. Check the clearance between the rotor, the caliper, the fork and the frame. This rotor is not compatible with Hope V2 and Trial calipers.
