The Hope Union RC pedal is a double-sided clipless pedal for XC, gravel and racing. The stainless steel mechanism opens wide as you clip in, and the titanium axle fitted as standard takes out weight without costing stiffness. The body is CNC-machined from solid in Barnoldswick, and comes fully apart for servicing.
Key Points
Double-sided, clean engagement: the front gate moves out of the way and lets the cleat in at a very open angle. You put your foot down and ride, even on a technical climb.
Titanium axle as standard: 322 g the pair, with no option to add on. Less mass on every pedal stroke, and an axle that does not rust.
Three bearings and an IGUS bush: rotation stays smooth over time, and the whole assembly can be regreased. Nothing is sealed and disposable, everything is replaceable.
Two pairs of cleats included: No. 4 (4° of float, 12° release) and No. 5 (5° and 13°) come in the box, with 2 mm of lateral float. You choose the feel when you fit them.
Compatibility
9/16 inch thread, the standard for mountain bike and road cranks. 55 mm Q-factor, that is the distance between your two pedals: your feet stay close together and in line with your hips, for smooth pedalling on long rides.
