DUKE BACCARA ULTRA SLR2 Disc Wheelset

DUKE presents its all-new UD carbon rim, designed, developed, and tested in-house. For its rims, DUKE owns the manufacturing tools! The latest addition, the DUKE Baccara SLS2* rims, represent the ultimate evolution of the iconic Baccara 3K. Available in several rim heights (36 mm, 42 mm, 48 mm, and 56 mm), with disc brakes, they come in symmetrical or asymmetrical profiles. For this innovative generation, Duke has focused our efforts on three key points: weight, comfort, and aerodynamics.

Thanks to SLS2 technology, the brand has reduced weight by 10% by using high-modulus fibers and adopting a new controlled atmosphere molding process with next-generation resins. This method also allows for better absorption of vibrations due to the bitumen granulometry, thus improving driving comfort. With an internal width between brackets of 21 mm, these wheels offer more volume to the tires, which translates into better performance, increased comfort, and improved grip when cornering.

A wider rim also allows for the use of thinner, lighter tires while maintaining comfort and grip thanks to increased air volume. Recommended tire widths are 25mm and 28mm, for tubeless or tube-type. The rim profile has been optimized to improve aerodynamics and stability in all wind conditions. With an external width of 27.6mm and a new ogival shape, aerodynamic drag is reduced, resulting in increased speed. In addition, the wheels are less susceptible to crosswinds, providing more precise steering and a greater sense of confidence for the rider.

The 2mm asymmetrical version allows the hub's cassette-side flange to be re-centered towards the inside of the wheel, improving stability and lateral stiffness, especially when accelerating. This asymmetry also provides a larger spoke width than symmetrical rims, allowing the tension of the two plies to be rebalanced for greater stiffness and durability.
