Advanced Technical Details – ELITE DRIVE II

Rims

DRIVE II rims feature a 23mm inner and 31mm outer width, optimized for 28-30mm tires. This configuration provides better comfort (lower pressure), better tire shape, and optimized aerodynamics.

The rims use a hooked design, which combines the advantages of a hookless rim (tire shape, aerodynamics) with those of a traditional rim (compatibility and higher pressure). Compliant with the ETRTO standard, this format guarantees maximum safety and durability for intensive road use.

4.5 mm carbon spokes

The DRIVE II uses 4.5 mm aerodynamic carbon spokes . Unlike bonded spokes, they are individually replaceable. Their design provides 8% greater lateral stiffness than steel spokes, for optimized power transfer.

These spokes remain aligned without twisting, constantly maintaining their optimal aerodynamic position . They are tested and validated by UCI pro teams sponsored by Elitewheels.

Kinetic 50-tooth star ratchet hub

The Kinetic II hub features a 50-tooth star ratchet mechanism with wide engagement and long life. The CNC-machined tapered pawls provide excellent grip and fast engagement, with no slippage.

Precision S&S ceramic bearings are mounted in housings machined to ±0.02 mm , reducing friction to a minimum. The hub is sealed, durable and CNC machined on 5 axes for impeccable quality.

Testing and validation

Each pair of DRIVE II wheels undergoes more than 20 laboratory tests : stiffness, durability, UCI impact, etc. Aerodynamics are validated via CFD , wind tunnel, and field tests with professional partner riders.

This development rigor allows DRIVE II wheels to be UCI approved for high-level competition.
